Jewish Foundation of Memphis Professional Advisory Group (PAG) Planning Committee members Patrick O’Hearn, Scott Bendure, Jason Salomon, Garrett Bizzell, and Lawson Arney joined Foundation Director of Programs Sarah VanderWalde at the most recent meeting in February.

Are you an estate planning attorney? An accountant? A Financial Advisor? A life insurance agent? Do you interact with clients who have an interest in philanthropy? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then consider joining the Professional Advisory Group (PAG) at the Jewish Foundation of Memphis.

The Jewish Foundation of Memphis has a robust Professional Advisory Group (PAG) made up of professionals in various legal, financial, and insurance fields. These individuals support the mission of the Foundation: encouraging charitable giving, supporting partner agency development, and building and sustaining a vibrant Jewish community.

The Jewish Foundation of Memphis is working on a 2022 directory to advertise members of its PAG. In 2019, the first PAG directory was created and distributed in 2020, as part of the Foundation’s 25th anniversary celebration. Two years later, Sarah VanderWalde, Director of Foundation Programs, is leading the effort to create a new publication.

Professional advisors play an important role in helping their clients make tax-wise charitable gifts and supporting the work of the Jewish Foundation. “We work with many local estate attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors and life insurance professionals to help establish charitable gifts. The resources they provide to the Jewish Foundation is invaluable,” said Sarah.

The directory will include the advisor’s name, firm information, services provided and his/her certifications. A $75 donation to the Jewish Foundation is required to be a part of the directory. An online form can be found at https://jcpmemphis.org/pag-signup. Advisors can enter their information and make their donation with a credit card.

Chaired by Jason Salomon, estate planning attorney at Harkavy Shainberg Kaplan PLC, the PAG currently has one hundred members. “Being a part of the PAG is great opportunity for any advisor to get exposure in the Memphis community. We also have fantastic events that offer ways to network with other professionals and receive continuing education credits,” said Jason. To help plan these events, Jason leads a steering committee that includes Lawson Arney, Vice President of Investments at Raymond James, Scott Bendure, Senior Vice President/Area Manager-Wealth at Pinnacle Financial Partners, Garrett Bizzell, Tax Senior Manager at Dixon Hughes Goodman, and Patrick O’Hearn, Senior Investment Adviser at Kelman-Lazarov.

The Jewish Foundation hopes to get full participation in the directory. New PAG members are also encouraged to sign up! This is a great way for advisors to get their names out there, as more people move to Memphis and seek financial or legal advice. The directory will be available in the Jewish Foundation offices, delivered to the Foundation’s four hundred donor advised fund holders, and published online. All questions regarding the PAG should be directed to Sarah VanderWalde at svanderwalde@jcpmemphis.org.
